Construction of scenery or props on the side of the stage is prohibited. No real flowers or leaves will be allowed or confetti, or talcum powder or similar, unless by prior agreement with the Dancing Section Secretary. Disregard for this rule may result in the disqualification of the item.
Timing Entries in all classes which exceed the time limit will be penalised. Times will be checked
from the first note or word of the accompaniment, or - if it should occur first - the first movement of the dancer, and
until the dancer's last movement at the completion of the dance
.
Classical Classes In group dancing, Tap and Modern are not acceptable.

Suitability For Own Choice pieces, suitability must be considered with regard to age group. "Adult" or offensive material is not acceptable and adjudicators will take this into account when marking. They also have authority to stop any performance at their discretion. This would lead to automatic disqualification.

Solo Singing Selections
It is becoming increasingly difficult to buy songs as single copies, and for that reason it may be
necessary to buy a collection or cycle for the sake of one set song.We appreciate that this will be
more expensive but trust that these anthologies will be a valuable addition to a singer’s library.
All singing set pieces are available from:
Brittens Music, Grove Hill Road, Tunbridge Wells
Telephone: 01892 526659
In case of difficulty obtaining set pieces, please contact the General Secretary.
Provisional Dates
The provisional dates for Singing Classes are: 8th (Popular Music Vocal classes); 8th (Junior Singing and John Lockey heats); 9th (Choirs, Brownies and Guides); 14th, 15th, 16th (Show Song Classes, Intermediate classes); Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th (Senior Singing) and Thursday 22nd (June Elgar Final and Gold Medal). The timetable is kept flexible to adapt to the number of entries received. Where possible, planned dates for specific classes are given in the Syllabus and shown in the margins but these may have to be changed.
Final timetable of classes will be available on the Festival website in January 2012.
